Dundee Croombs Halfpenny


Croomb’s Dundee (Angus) copper halfpenny token undated. Obverse: Shield of arms flanked by winged dragons with legend: "DEI DONUM PRUDENTIA ET CANDOR", "PAYABLE AT W. CROOMS. HIGH STREET DUNDEE.", period after "DUNDEE". Reverse: Legend on six lines, "SELLS WHOLESALE WOOLEN & LINEN DRAPERY GOODS WATCHES &c &c CHEAP." Plain edge. W. Croom was a dealer in woollen and linen drapery goods, watches and sundry articles, with a business in the High Street, Dundee. Struck from polished dies in lovely collectable condition with reflective surfaces and much original lustre remaining not picked up in photograph.
