The Life and Times of Thomas Spence

Mary Ashraf

Howe Brothers, Gateshead, 1983, red cloth hard back with dust jacket, 212 pages, used, clean and tight with dust jacket with the odd small tear or mark. This is quite a technical biography of the radical Thomas Spence who was relentlessly persecuted for his defence of the abused working class population of the time and his association with Thomas Paine. Although the reference to his tokens is very limited, it puts their existence into perspective in his overall fight for equality sadly lacking during his troubled lifetime. May not be the book illustrated but best available in similar condition.
