Cooper's Stores Glasgow (Lanarkshire) uniface zinc halfpenny token undated. Obverse: Legend on two curved lines with value in circle in centre: “COOPERS * HOWARD STREET * 1D/2”. Straight milled edge. Coopers grocery store on the corner of Clyde Street and Howard Street was started by Thomas G Bishop around 1871. Taken over by Fine Fare in 1955 the business suffered a slow decline changing hands a few times through Gateway, Somerfield and the Co-op, and eventually closed. Ex-Michael Paterson Collection. Reasonable collectable condition, see photograph.
