Very rare Borthwick's Hatter Carlisle (Cumberland) brass farthing circa 1890s. Obverse: Legend on three lines, the top and bottom curved: "T. W. BORTHWICK -•- 59 ENGLISH ST. -•- CARLISLE". Reverse: Legend on three lines within wreath: "HATTER HOSIER GLOVER". Plain edge. Listed in Withers' "The Token Book 2" as "RR - VERY RARE". Ex-R. Ward Collection, bought from Seaby 1973.
