Rare Bristol Sheathing & Nail Manufactory Ship Penny 1811

Rare Bristol (Somerset) copper halfpenny token dated 1811. Obverse: Sailing ship in centre with legend around periphery: “PATENT SHEATHING NAIL MANUFACTORY BRISTOL”. Reverse: Legend on two lines in centre and around periphery with date below: “PENNY TOKEN PAYABLE AT BRISTOL AND LONDON 1811”. Edge milled in both directions. Listed in Paul & Bente Withers' “British Copper Tokens 1811-1820” as “R - RARE”. Although not identified on the token, this was issued by Samuel Guppy who, as well as owning the “Patent pure Copper Sheathing Nail Manufactory”, traded at 34 Queen Square Bristol, Grove Avenue Bristol, and 22 Dowgate Hill London.
