Bristol Sheathing & Nail Manufactory Ship Farthing Token 1811

Bristol (Somerset) copper farthing token dated 1811. Obverse: Sailing ship in centre with legend around periphery: “PATENT SHEATHING NAIL MANUFACTORY BRISTOL”. Reverse: Legend on three lines in centre and around periphery: “FAR- THING TOKEN PAYABLE AT BRISTOL AND LONDON 1811”. Centre-grained edge. Although not identified on the token, this was issued by Samuel Guppy who, as well as owning the “Patent Pure Copper Sheathing Nail Manufactory”, traded at 34 Queen Square Bristol, Grove Avenue Bristol, and 22 Dowgate Hill London.
