Very rare Union Copper Company Birmingham (Warwickshire) copper penny token dated 1812. Obverse: Clasped hands and date in centre with legend: “UNION COPPER COMPANY * BIRMINGHAM * 1812”. Reverse: Legend on three lines in centre and around periphery: “ONE PENNY TOKEN * PAYABLE IN CASH NOTES”. Centre-grained (\\\\\) edge. Listed in Paul & Bente Withers' “British Copper Tokens 1811-1820” as “RR - VERY RARE”. Good collectable condition with flan flaw on reverse, cleaned in the past, see photograph.
