Cape Town City Catering Department octagonal white metal penny token, undated. Obverse: Legend around periphery with value in centre: “THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN * 1D.”. Reverse: Legend around periphery with value in centre: “CATERING DEPARTMENT * 1D.”. Plain edge. This was issued for use at the old Cape Town Pier restaurant between 1911 to c1914. The old pier was at the bottom of Adderley Street and was demolished to make way for harbour development. Nice collectable condition with small stain on reverse, see photograph.
