Jersey Eighteen Pence Token 1813

George III (1760-1820) silver eighteen pence token dated 1813. Obverse: Shield of three lions: "STATES OF JERSEY. 1813". Reverse: Value on three lines enclosed in wreath: "EIGHTEEN PENCE TOKEN". This coinage was authorised by the Council of the States of Jersey in 1812, designed by Thomas Wyon Jr. and struck at the Royal Mint in London. Of the original £10,000.00 silver bullion used, £1,363.00 was unaccounted for on it's withdrawal in October 1834. Royal Mint records show that there were originally 71,104 three shillings and 38,740 eighteen pence tokens struck. My thanks go to Harold Fears for this information. Good collectable condition, see photograph.
