Charles I (1625-1649) silver two shillings, fourth coinage (1642). Obverse: Crowned bust to left with "II" indicating denomination behind the head. This is the less common variety with the small "II". Legend: "CAR D G SCOT ANG FRAN & HIB R" (Charles by the grace of God King of Scotland England France and Ireland). Reverse: Crown over lion rampant. Legend: "IVST THRONVM FIRMAT" (Justice strengthens the throne). Properly formed lys in tressures of shield. Significanlty less common than the large "II" issue.
