Charles I (1625-1649) silver half merk (six shillings and eight pence/ eighty pence), Briot's issue of 1636. Obverse: Crowned bust to left with "VI. 8", indicating denomination, behind the head. Legend: "CAROLVS D G SCOT ANG FR ET HIB R" (Charles by the grace of God King of Scotland England France and Ireland). Reverse: Crown over thistle: "CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO" (I reign under the auspices of Christ). Reasonable collectable condition for type with little detail left on portrait, see photograph.
