Anne (1702-1714) silver shilling dated 1708E*, second bust. The E* beneath the bust indicates that it was minted in Edinburgh after the Union of the Scottish and English Parliaments in 1707. These were made from the previously circulating old Scottish coinage which was subsequently withdrawn. Although the E* below the bust is unclear, since it is the second bust variety it is assumed that this is the type. Poor collectable condition with porous surfaces, probably cleaned, see photograph. Spink No: 3609/S.5715. Diameter 26mm. Fair. £15.00 e-mail David at d-stuart@d-stuart.demon.co.uk to order. www.abccoinsandtokens.com |
