Keeling's Gibraltar copper one quart dated 1802. Obverse: Nice view of wooded hills descending to the sea shore with three men in a boat on the water: PAYABLE AT R. KEELINGS. GIBRALTER. Reverse: Three turreted castle and portcullis with a key below: VALUE ONE QUART 1802. These were issued by Robert Keeling, a local merchant, in an attempt to alleviate the local shortage of small denomination currency. Twenty-four quarts made up one real.
