Rushbury & Woolley's Bilston (Staffordshire) silver sixpence token dated 1811. Obverse: County Coat of Arms consisting of five lions surrounding a triple-turreted castle with legend: BILSTON SILVER TOKEN SIX PENCE. Reverse: Legend on nine lines: COMMERCIAL CHANGE PAYABLE BY RUSHBURY AND WOOLLEY 1811 ONE POUND NOTE FOR 40 TOKENS. Diagonally milled edge. George Rushbury and Woolley were manufacturers of metal and wooden items. George Rushberry and his son George, junior were eventually made bankrupt as a result of their inability to redeem the bank notes they issued. Good collectable condition, see photograph.
