Ship and Bridge Gainsborough Silver Shilling 1811

Gainsborough (Lincolnshire) silver shilling token dated 1811. Obverse: Sailing ship in centre with legend: “GAINSBRO TOKEN 1811”. Reverse: View of Gainsborough's old three-arched bridge with legend: “FOR TWELVE PENCE”. . Diagonally milled edge (//////). The issuers are unknown however it could have been produced by the manufacturer of the local tradesmen's tokens as the same dies were used. It was not possible to redeem them as no names are mentioned. Good collectable condition, see photograph.
