Scarce General Elliot Birmingham Halfpenny 1792

Scarce General Elliot Birmingham (Warwickshire) copper Conder halfpenny token, dated 1792. Obverse: Cypher of “PS” in script within chain circle and legend: “BIRMINGHAM HALFPENNY 1792”.  Reverse: Bust of General Elliot to the left with legend: “GENERAL ELLIOT.”. Plain edge. Peter Skidmore issued this token for collectors and his initials appear on the obverse. General Elliot was the heroic commander of the British garrison of Gibraltar that withstood a Spanish siege lasting over three years. Ex-W. Anderson Collection. Nice collectable condition for type with some original lustre remaining, see photograph.
