Rare Payne & Turner's Bath (Somerset) copper Conder halfpenny token undated. Obverse: Crowned bust to the right: "ALFRED YE GREAT REFOUNDED BATH. A. D. 900 +". Reverse: View of turreted entrance and city walls: "AND SURROUNDED IT WITH WALLS & TOWERS. +". Edge inscription: "PAYNE & TURNER SILVER-SMITHS BATH.+". Payne and Turner were silversmiths and jewellers in Bath. Listed in Bell's "Tradesmen's Tickets and Private Tokens" as "RARE" with only a few pounds weight being struck, however this does not seem to be the case.
