Rare Bath (Somersetshire) copper Conder halfpenny token undated. Obverse: Bust of John Howard to left with legend: "IOHN HOWARD F. R. S. HALFPENNY.". Reverse: Britannia seated to left with legend: "RULE BRITANNIA". Plain edge. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as: "RARE". John Howard's life work was the study of prisons, which culminated in his book: "The State of the Prisons in England and Wales", published in 1777.
