George Jobson’s Northampton (Northamptonshire) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1794. Obverse: Bareheaded bust to left: “GEORGE JOBSON . BANKER. 1794”. Reverse: A three turreted castle gateway over a lion with raised paw: “MAY NORTHAMPTON FLOURISH.”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE IN LANCASTER LONDON OR BRISTOL”. This is the only Conder issued for this county. It is believed that George Jobson was a local banker. Ex-Roberts-Lewis Collection. Lovely collectable condition with some subdued lustre, see photograph.
