Hendon (Middlesex) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1794. Obverse: View of Hendon Church with it’s elaborate weather vane: “HENDON . VALUE . ONE . HALFPENNY 1794”. Reverse: Bust of David Garrick, the famous actor, facing left: “DAVID GARRICK ESQR”. Plain edge. David Garrick bought Hendon Hall and gave a site there for a school. As Lord of the Manor, and Hendon’s most celebrated citizen, Garrick’s bust was an appropriate design for the Hendon token. Lovely collectable condition, see photograph. D&H Middlesex No: 325.
