Rare Biggar's Coffee House & Army List London Halfpenny 1796

Rare Charles Biggar's London (Middlesex) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1796. Obverse: Legend on eight lines: "C : BIGGAR SPRING GARDEN COFFEE HOUSE AND HOTEL. FOR GENTLEMEN AND FAMILIES". Reverse: Legend on eight lines in centre and around periphery: "BIGGAR'S CORRECTER MSS. ARMY LIST BY SUBSCRIPTION COMMENCING JAN.Y 1ST. 1796 * CONTINUED ANNUALLY. SUBSCRIPTION TWO SHILLS. & SIX PENCE EACH". Plain edge. Listed in Dalton & Hamer, and Bell's "Tradesmen's Tickets and Private Tokens 1785-1819" as "RARE". Charles Biggar ran a Coffee House and Hotel in Spring Gardens, London and published the "Army List". His coffee house was close to the War Office and was frequented by army officers. He was declared bankrupt in 1797.  Ex-David Young Collection. Good collectable condition but struck off-centre, see photograph.
