Hall’s Wild Animals Taxidermist London Penny 1795

Thomas Hall’s London (Middlesex) copper Conder penny token dated 1795. Obverse: Three exotic animals, a kangaroo, armadillo and rhinoceros with legend: “THE . KANGUROO THE . ARMADILLO THE . RHINOCEROS.”. Reverse: Legend on six lines in centre and round edge: “T. HALL CITTY ROAD NEAR FINSBURY SQUARE LONDON 1795 THE FIRST ARTIST IN EUROPE FOR PRESERVING BIRDS BEASTS &.”. Edge inscription: “MANUFACTURED BY W. LUTWYCHE BIRMINGHAM •X•”. Thomas Hall was a taxidermist, curiosity dealer and proprietor of an exhibition of stuffed animals. Nice collectable condition with feint collector's number on obverse, see photograph.
