Rare Christ’s Hospital London (Middlesex) Conder octagonal sixpence copper token dated 1800. Obverse: Monogram with date below: “CH 1800”. Reverse: Value on two lines: “SIX PENCE”. Plain edge. Christ's Hospital was created by Edward VI for the education and maintenance of the young and helpless. These tokens were issued as private currency for the scholars, and were spent at privileged tradesmen's shops. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as "R - RARE". Ex-Gahlin Collection. Nice collectable condition for type with a few edge bruises and slightly uneven colour, see photograph.
