Mordaunt's Halsall Cotton Mill Penny

Mordaunt's Halsall (Lancashire) copper Conder penny token undated. Obverse: Coat of arms supported by two falcons above banner reading: “CONTENTA NEC PLACIDA QUIETE EST”. Reverse: Legend on two lines: “HALSALL D”. Heavily patterned edge. These were issued by Colonel Charles Lewis Mordaunt to pay his workers at Halsall Cotton Mill near Southport. Good collectable condition for type with light strike on reverse, see photograph.
