Rare Edward Pillow's Canterbury Cathedral Halfpenny 1795

Rare Edward Pillow's Canterbury (Kent) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: South view of Canterbury Cathedral with legend: “CANTERBURY TOKEN” with large cypher “EP” below and no period at end of legend. Reverse: Shield of Arms of the City of Canterbury with legend: “OUR KING AND COUNTRY LAWS AND TRADE 1795”. Edge inscription: “PAYABLE AT CANTERBURY ++++++++”. This was probably issued by Edward Pillow, a freeholder with a tailor and draper’s business in Canterbury. Listed in Dalton & Hamer as “RARE”. Nice collectable condition, see photograph.
