Reverse: Shield of arms: PROMISSORY 1791 HALFPENNY. Edge inscription: PAYABLE AT THE OFFICE OF W. TAYLOR R. V. MOODY & CO. Walter Taylor was, by trade, a ships carpenter who invented several improved types of tackle for the Navy, and also an efficient ships pump.
