Baylys Poole (Dorset) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1795. Obverse: Figure of Hope, leaning on an anchor and holding a shield on which is inscribed: JAS. BAYLY DRAPER POOLE. Reverse: Shield of arms of the town of Poole consisting of an elaborate dolphin beneath three scallop shells: PROSPERITY TO THE TOWN OF POOLE * 1795 *. Edge inscription: "I PROMISE TO PAY ON DEMAND ONE HALFPENNY .+.". James Bayly was a linen and woollen draper with a business in Poole. Nice collectable condition, see photograph. D&H Dorset No: 6.
