Anti-Slavery Aylesbury Halfpenny 1796

Anti-Slavery Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire) copper Conder halfpenny token dated 1796. Obverse: Bust of William III with engraver’s name “JAMES” beneath: “TO THE FRIENDS FOR THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY”. Reverse: Four flags with irradiated cap of freedom on pole in centre: “AYLESBURY * TOKEN *** 1796 ***. Feint diagonally milled edge. Reasonable collectable condition for type with usual flat centres, see photograph.
